Dr Ferreira-Meyers is the Coordinator Modern Languages/Linguistics of the Institute of Distance Education (University of Swaziland) since October 2010. She obtained various qualifications: MA Romance Philology (French-Spanish), Honours Portuguese, Post-Graduate Diploma Translation (French-English-French), MA Linguistics, LLM Degree (Legal aspects of new technologies), PhD in French (feminine Francophone autofiction). She has published a monograph on Francophone autofiction, several articles (autofictional feminine writing, crime fiction, 20th and 21st Francophone, Anglophone and Lusophone African authors, distance and e-learning), participates regularly in international conferences and is a keen translator and interpreter.

​In October 2010 I started working as Lecturer and Coordinator Linguistics/Modern Languages at the Institute of Distance Education. I am mainly in charge of the Portuguese and French programmes, which are offered as blended learning programmes. In April 2013 I was promoted to Senior Lecturer.

I often have the opportunity to translate and interpret from English into French and vice versa. I also do the same from Portuguese into English.

This is when I enrolled for my PhD in French. I specialized in Francophone autofictional feminine writing and worked in particular on texts written by Franco-Algerian Nina Bouraoui, Franco-Cameroonian Calixthe Beyala and Belgian Amélie Nothomb.

This is where I am currently doing my Master's in Instructiona Design and Technology. I hope to graduate soon!

I obtained several qualifications through this University: a Post-Graduate Diploma in Translation, an Honours degree in Portuguese, an LLB and a subsequent LLM degree.

 

University of Stellenbosch

 

This is where I obtained my second Master's degree, in Linguistics (English), via distance education.

My first degree was obtained at this University: a Licence en Philologie romane. I then did a Post-Graduate Certificate in Spanish Language and literature, and started an MBA (I finished year 1, but in year 2 I decided I wanted a different life and moved to Swaziland).
