MIDT courses, resources and reflection

From the onset the courses have been an intellectual and practical challenge. As a learner, I was kept on my toes, there were always assignments and major tasks to be accomplished. It has been a real learning curve.

Here are some of the outcomes of those 'struggles':

The MIDT programme has had a major impact on me. While I had already embarked on blended teaching at the Institute of Distance Education where I am employed on a full-time basis, there were certainly many gaps both in pedagogical background and in practical and technological strategies to bring that pedagogy to fruition.

The coursework (you can find more information on the linked pages below) and research (of which you can see a sample on the Research Project page) have allowed me to reflect on my own practise as a facilitator of learning and as a learner myself. I have come out much stronger and more ocmpetent from the programme! So, a big thank you to the Commonwealth of Learning for giving me a scholarshop to study towards the Master in Instructional Design and Technology!

I have already had an opportunity to put to practice what I learned outside my daily work environment. Last April-May Iwas approached by a project manager, working for the African Management Initiative, based in South Africa, that was going to offer a MOOC to African managers on basic managerial and personal skills. I did a bit of instructional design work for them on a voluntary basis, and loved it!
